Foster Care Fortnight 2024

Foster Care Fortnight is an annual campaign that raises awareness of Foster Care and how it transforms lives. The theme for 2024 is #FosteringMoments, which will celebrate the hard work and dedication of foster carers from all corners of the UK and all types of backgrounds.

Challenges in Foster Care

Fostering is rewarding, but it comes with its challenges. Over the last 15 years, we have worked with councils and foster care providers to help engage with key audiences who might consider this a potential life choice. And without fail, every year, one significant issue that hinders the process - the shortage of localised foster carers. This leads to a mismatch between the needs of children and available localised placements and can result in children being placed far from their home communities, schools, and support networks, exacerbating their sense of instability and loss.

Another challenge is the complexity of the needs of children in foster care. Many have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect, which can manifest in behavioural, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Foster carers and support services must be equipped to provide the specialised care these children need.

Success stories abound of children who, through the support of their foster families and the wider care system, overcome their early life challenges to lead happy, successful lives.

Despite these challenges, foster care can have a profoundly positive impact on children. It offers them a stable, caring environment to heal, grow, and develop.

Foster families often describe their fostering experience as transformative, offering them a profound sense of purpose and the opportunity to make a significant difference in a child's life. The bonds formed between foster children and their carers can last a lifetime, extending the notion of family beyond biological ties, inspiring and motivating others to consider fostering.

At Fonemedia, we have been at the forefront of tackling the challenges that the Foster care sector faces. Using the technology and key features of mobile devices, we are able to align key criteria which meet the demands of the process: Targeting those people who have spare rooms available through our Experian partnership, geo-locating the audience to align with the campaign needs, and reaching those audiences who have a profound empathy with good causes and a sense of moral cause.

Finding the right people in the right locations isn’t easy at all, but by using technology to reach these audiences, Fonemedia is helping key stakeholders in the process to enhance awareness and to drive better engagement of this hugely worthwhile cause.

If you are looking for help to increase the reach of your foster care campaigns. Do not hesitate to get in touch with our Business Development team in order to request case studies or a campaign proposal.
